No Quick Fixes If you haven't been taking care of your body for a long time, perhaps years, then starting an exercise program and expecting to get fit in a couple of weeks is not realistic. It took a long time to get in the shape you're in, and it will take a while to get back in to good shape again.
In our day and age, we've become so used to instant everything, we expect to be able to fix everything at the snap of our fingers, but it doesn't always work that way.
When we apply this attitude to getting fit and losing weight, we must keep reminding ourselves that it took a while to get in the condition we find ourselves in today and it will take time and effort to reverse.
Unfortunately, there are no quick fixes, change comes one small step at a time. By taking responsibility for your own success and setting realistic goals that can be attained, and setting new goals as each step in the ladder is reached, you will be successful. Keep track of your progress by keeping workout and food journals, then when you look back you can see how far you've come and be motivated to keep going!
Also, recruit the support of family and friends to help encourage you to stay on track. Keep in mind, that there are always going to be set backs, that's just life, but pick yourself up and keep going! By not quitting when you have a set back you will feel a sense of accomplishment and your persistence and patients will be rewarded, over time, with higher self-esteem better health, and more energy.
