Why Fitness Assessments Important?

If you want to get an idea of what your fitness level is, then you might want to go see Debbie Cork, who is certified in Fitness Assessment.
Fitness assessments provide estimated measures of an individual's fitness level including cardio-respiratory endurance, flexibility, and muscular strength and endurance. The results of a fitness assessment provide a baseline which can be used to develop an exercise program, and can be used for comparison as you progress. A fitness assessment can serve as a motivational tool, and show where areas of improvement are needed.
Debbie will go through a questionnaire with you , and then put you through some tests, which include a step test, and some strength, and flexibility tests. She will take your heart rate, blood pressure, height, and weight. The test takes about 1hr. to 1 & 1/2 hrs. After she has finished, she will do all the calculations for the various tests, and forward them to you for further discussion.
This type of testing is a very good way to determine your fitness level, and to see your areas of weakness, and strength.
You can contact Debbie at getrealaboutfitness@hotmail.com

Plateaus

If you find yourself in a plateau, try the following:
-Don't skip meals - Skipping meals activates your bodies starvation response, and causes you to store extra fat!
-Quit worrying about what the scale says! Go by how your clothes are fitting, and what your measurements are. The scale is not a a true measure of what's going on in your body.
-Change your routine every couple of months. Your body adapts to your routine after about 6-8 weeks, so you need to change things up a bit! Perhaps by adding more time or intensity to your cardio workout, or adding a weight workout once or twice a week.
-Keep track of what you're eating by planning, and journalizing.
-Remember to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day.

See you at the Langley Healthy Living Expo,Saturday, Feb.17, at the Langley Golf Centre - 44th. Ave & 216th. St.
Thanks to those of you who took advantage of my January special...look for more in the future!
